SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake City Serpents dominated the Omaha Steaks 163.42 to 95.98 in this Sunday’s game at home.  With the help of Phillip Rivers and Matthew Stafford’s stellar performances, the Serpents record becomes 5-2. They remain in third place.

Rivers dominated the game and threw for 329 yards and two touchdowns. He accumulated 33.16 points for the Serpents. Matthew Stafford had a great game throwing for 364 yards, 4 touchdowns and only 1 interception. He earned 44.56 points, the highest amount of points earned by any player on either team. It was his fourth game with multiple touchdown passes this season.  He also broke the record for quickest to throw for 40,000 yards in his career in this weeks game.

It took Stafford just 147 games to reach 40,000 yards thrown.

“Stafford is on a roll,” said Serpents head coach Donte Neath. He continued, “This is the second time and he’s exceeded 350 passing yards this season and we hope more of that same energy is carried over to next weeks game.”

Leonard Fournette and Cooper Kupp also had significant plays throughout the game.  Fournette ran for 139 yards and caught 2 passes for 14 yards. He also tied his season-high for carries.   Kupp caught 6 passes for 50 yards.

“We expect more from Kupp,” assistant coach Nick Roberts states.  “He is capable of more than what he has shown us this week. He topped 100 yards in each of the previous four games, and we are hoping that he will bounce back and show us a stellar performance next week.”

The Omaha Steaks wide receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Tyreek Hill led the team in points. The team hopes to bring their momentum into next weeks matchup.  Hopkins scored his first touchdown since Week 1, and this was the first time he topped the 100-yard since. Hill had a 57-yard touchdown reception. The Omaha steaks remain in last place in the SCOM fantasy classic league after this week’s loss.

The Salt Lake City Serpents (5-2) face the Austin City Limits (3-4)  for the first time this season at McConaughey Stadium. The Austin City Limits are ranked 4th in the SCOM Fantasy Classic League. The game will air on ESPN and KUTV at 7 p.m.
