SAN DIEGO – Odell Beckham and several of his San Diego JackRabbit teammates, including Josh Gordon, Dalvin Cook, and Derek Carr, will take homelessness by the throat in their upcoming plan to spend 24 straight hours outdoors. The players will be setting up tents at Mission Trails Regional Park and have promised to withstand any conditions that are coming their way. Odell himself has pledged to spare a mere 24 hours for all those without shelter of any kind.
“People spend 24, 48, even hundreds and thousands of hours outside. People literally don’t have homes to go inside at all. The least me and my teammates can do its commit to the full day,” said Odell of the event.
“Oh, well be out there,” said quarterback Derek Carr, “It’s looking like 22 degrees that night…not quite beach weather.”
The players will be accepting donations towards helping the homeless throughout the whole day, and have each donated $2000 of their own money to the cause.
The event will be sponsored by the National Alliance to End Homelessness, as well as several local businesses. 100 percent of the donations received will be put towards finding homes, jobs, and shelter for those without homes and in poverty within the city.
