The Memphis Suns will be releasing a city-wide campaign in the summer of 2019. It’s time to Rise and Shine Memphis. It’s time to rebuild our city back to its once pristine and luxurious state. Tackling poverty will be one of the organizations main focus during the campaign.
Memphis currently holds the most residents living under the poverty line in a metropolitan area. The city currently has 27% of their overall population in poverty. The poverty level for children under the age of 18 is 44%. The national poverty average in the United States is only 14%. It’s time to make a change in our city Memphis!
Our city transportation will also be another key element of this campaign. Most of the people living underneath the poverty line, live in parts of the city where the bus routes don’t reach out to. We will be holding an initiative with the city transportation system extending routes to those parts of the city. We need to provide members of our community the tools they need to be able to make a difference.
We are going to need the support of our residents to make any progress within out city lines. This is everyone’s responsibility whether any of the problems that are occurring in the city are directly affecting you. We are all members of this community so what affects one of us makes an impact on all of us. It’s time to take our community back Memphis!
It’s going to take the involvement of everyone to make a positive impact on the community. We will be using multiple platforms to reach out to our supports and the residents of the area. Together we have problem and together we can be a part of the solution.
