The Orlando Sharks Making Strides with Their Corporate Social Responsibility

ORLANDO, Fla. Dec. 14, 2018 – The Orlando Sharks Association finalized a partnership with a local Orlando nonprofit organization, Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, which raises awareness of the homeless population in Central Florida and works to provide housing, emergency services, and diversion.

The Orlando Sharks Association is dedicated to their corporate social responsibility of helping repair the homeless population in Orlando, Florida. The desire from the Orlando Sharks team to help with this mission along with the large revenue the association brings in and could donate makes it absolutely necessary for this campaign to launch. The Coalition offers many services to the homeless population and has been recognized as one of the most known nonprofit organizations in the Orlando area.

“The partnership with the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida is not only a great opportunity for the Sharks to give back to the community but it is also going to greatly benefit the Coalition in the work and donations we will contribute,” stated Orlando Sharks’ Team Owner, Spencer Nixon. According to Nixon, the Orlando Sharks aim to participate in volunteer opportunities with their players and association members as well as co-sponsor community-based fundraising events.

Coalition CEO, John E. Hearn, commented on the finalization of the partnership, “a mutually beneficial partnership that will allow for more help and contributions to be made to families and individuals suffering from homelessness in our communities.” The Orlando Sharks Association and the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida are in talks about the next steps of their partnership and will be informing the community in their efforts and how they can get involved shortly.

The Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida is located on Terry Avenue in downtown Orlando. The campus includes an Intake Center that is open to individuals or families seeking help from the Coalition, a Center for Women & Families that accommodates 240 individuals, a Men’s Service Center that accommodates 250 single homeless men, and the Bridge Housing Apartments which provide “gap” housing for 9 homeless families who are awaiting affordable rental units.
