PORTLAND, OR.- The Portland Pirates bounced back from five consecutive losses and defeated the Multiple Scorgasms by a score of 100.08 to 72.58 in Week 8 of the IFFY Fantasy Football League.
The Pirates, avoiding a sixth consecutive loss, couldn’t have had a better time for a great overall team performance. For just the second time this year, the Pirates scored over 100 points. Newly acquired WR Titus Young led the way for the slumping Pirates, scoring 22 points in his season debut. Demaryius Thomas added 19.70 points, while RB Darren McFadden and WR Steve Smith both had their best performances of the year, tallying 13.70 and 11.80 points, respectively. Tight-end Vernon Davis (3.40 points), kicker Mason Crosby (6 points) and the Philadelphia Defense (1 points) were the only players for the Pirates to not score double digits.
For the first time this season, Robert Griffin III did not lead the Portland Pirates in total points. This, though, did not seem to bother Griffin after the game. “It’s a team game, man,” Griffin said. “This is what it’s all about. My teammates know every week I go out there and give it my all. And when my effort isn’t enough to lead us to victory, my teammates are there for me. I have to give them all the props for this win. We had a great team effort, and we’re going to take this momentum into Week 9. Teams should be scared to play us.”
The Portland Pirates are currently 3-5-0 and will be traveling to take on the 4-4 Team Supreme next Sunday, November 4th. Portland has five remaining regular season games scheduled and hopes to get on a roll as they battle for a playoff spot.
