Game Recap
The Virginia Beach Neptunes are coming off a two-game loss streak. This previous game, the Harrisonburg Valley Bees beat the Neptunes handedly by almost 16 points. The Bees were the Neptunes first loss of the season, but Virginia Beach still cannot seem to find a way to overcome the defending champions. QB Kirk Cousins led the ‘Tunes by producing 17. 28 points who threw 247 yards. Helping Kirk was WR Tyreek Hill, who had another outstanding game, contributing 18.3 points, but that was not enough to beat the Bees. After picking up WR Larry Fitzgerald, he contributed to the ‘Tunes by adding 12 points on his first go-around with the team.
Even though the Neptunes star players came out strong, the Bees still had the edge to claim victory. Their QB, Derek Carr, could not be stopped by adding 25.70 points. The Neptunes defense was weak, allowing Carr throw 300 passing yards. Another standout from the Bees was WR Julio Jones, producing 18.8 points with 118 receiving yards. Virginia Beach must find a way to strengthen their defense if they want to stop their losing streak.
After the loss against Harrisonburg, the Neptunes sit in fourth place heading into next week’s game against the third place Honolulu Rocks, the second time these two teams will meet this season. The ‘Tunes winning this game is essential in order to keep their playoff dreams alive.
