Porkers Consider Trade Offer after Suffering their Second Consecutive Loss

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Porkers stretched their losing streak to two on Sunday after suffering a 93.60-67.46 setback to Team Awesome (5-2), dropping their record to 3-4 overall. Quarterback Tom Brady led the Porkers with 18.36 total points, throwing for 259 pass yards and two touchdown passes.

Regardless of Brady’s consistent play, the Porkers’ starting lineup has been unable to find a way to win in the last two weeks. Memphis General Manager Dennis DuLaney and Head Coach Bill Cowher have announced that changes to the starting lineup will be made prior to week eight’s matchup with the Albuquerque Rattlers (4-3).

“As a team, we continue to struggle to put up points and finish out close games week after week,” Cowher said. “I think it’s time to consider our trade options, as well as paying more close attention to what our bench has to offer.”

The Memphis Porker administration and coaching staff have confirmed that the speculations of a possible trade with the Birmingham Bulldogs are true. The Bulldogs have offered running back Pierre Thomas and wide receiver Denarius Moore in exchange for backup quarterback Christian Ponder.

“Negotiations are still being made and no final decision has yet been reached,” DuLaney confirmed. “We are working closely with Christian [Ponder] and the rest of our coaching staff on reaching a decision that will be beneficial for all parties involved.”

Thomas and Moore would add depth to the Porkers’ running back and wide receiver positions, as they both have been consistent threats throughout the season. In this past week in their game against the Scorgasms (1-6), the duo combined for 18.8 total bench points, as they both recorded a touchdown. Pierre has averaged seven points per game, but continues to grow. Moore experienced breakout weeks in week three and week six, improving his average to nine points per game.

The trade decision is expected to be announced at a press conference held at the Memphis Porkers’ stadium media room on Wednesday, October 24th at 3:30 p.m.
