Game Recaps (Previous week’s game)

The Fresno Fuegos extend their winning streak to two with a victory over the Harrisonburg Valley Bees. QB Tom Brady put on quite a show with 378 passing yards and 5 touchdown passes to give the Fuegos a 50-point lead. The Fuegos kept their momentum going by putting 60 more points on the board with stellar performances by Kareem Hunt and Marcus Mariota. Hunt finish the day with 172 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown, which now bring his total to 3 touchdowns of 50 yards or more in his first 3 games, a new NFL record. Mariota had his best game of the season so far by throwing 20 completions for 225 yards, resulting in 2 touchdowns. The Harrisonburg Valley Bees did not go without a fight as they scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to get back in the game, but the Fuego defense tightened up to hold them to 14 to get the win with a final score of 186.42-107.98 The Fuegos had their highest scoring game of the season so far and are looking to keep this dominance performance going into next week against the Honolulu Honey Badgers.

Matchup Preview (Upcoming match up)

  • Tom Brady will go up against Honolulu QB Matthew Stafford who has 678 passing yards on the season
  • Kareem Hunt goes into Week 4 with the most rushing yards in the league of 401
  • With the Honey Badgers on a three-game losing streak, the Fuegos’ offense will look to attack and score early
  • One of the interesting matchups of the week will include Jordy Nelson vs. A.J. Green, who has having a great start to the season with 252 receiving yards, so both defenses will need to tighten their coverage
  • Honolulu’s RB Melvin Gordon is questionable for Sunday’s game with a bone bruise to his left knee, which he injured the previous two seasons

Fresno Fuegos Season Notes

  • No trade news
  • No add/drop news
  • WR Kelvin Benjamin suffered a left knee injury in Week 3 against the Valley Bees and is questionable for Week 4
  • Kareem Hunt becomes the first player in NFL history to score a TD of 50 yards or longer in each of his first three games
  • Doug Martin continues his suspension into this week and will return week 5
  • Fresno County students are doing better academically this year with 44 percent of students exceeding English and language arts standards and 32 percent exceeding math standards
  • California legislators rejected the Senate Bill 328 this week, which would prohibit California middle school and high school students from beginning classes before 8:30 am. This is a big blow for students as research has recently shown that starting classes too early affects their circadian rhythm, making them more sleep deprived and affecting their overall health.
