LOUISVILLE LIZARDS FORM COMMUNITY HEALTH INTIATIVE

Louisville, Ky., Nov. 9, 2015 – The Louisville Lizards teamed up with sponsor, General Mills Cheerios, in creating Heart2Heart, a health initiative for raising heart disease awareness in the Louisville community.

The Louisville Lizards hired Health Coordinator, Jean Edwards, to lead the initiative with local General Mills’ production facilities and their employees. The program will begin fulfilling their objectives starting Monday, November 9. The Heart2Heart subcommittee will produce advertisements and health-information guides through multiple channels including mail, television, and radio during the month of November.

The Louisville Lizards plan to use its prominence in the Louisville community by decorating the Papa Johns Stadium with visual advertisements supporting a healthy lifestyle. Also, for the rest of November, healthy food choices at concessions will be 30% off all purchases. The Louisville Lizards believe it has a special ability to make a difference in the community. “As one of the major organizations in this community we deem it as a civic duty to give back to those who support us and what we stand for,” Edwards said, “Our ability to send a message during a most anticipated event will allow us to reach a wide-range of our community.”

The Louisville Lizards understand this is an issue that impacts the entire public and not just select sets. Therefore, Heart2Heart built a children’s part of the initiative to promote long-term healthy lives. Lizards’ players have committed to assisting in communicating the information to the younger generation. On Monday, November 16, Ben Roethlisberger, Dez Bryant and Andrew Luck will visit local elementary schools to educate children on the importance of good health.
