MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Last Sunday, the Memphis Blues lost in a come-from-behind victory by the Las Vegas Luck during their final away game before returning home this upcoming week. Earlier in the day, the Blues announced that they were bringing recently inducted Memphis Hall of Famer, Justin Timberlake to perform a halftime show during their upcoming Monday night battle with the Orlando Oranges. Memphis Native, Timberlake is a Grammy award-winning superstar that will sure raise the moral of the team and fans after a two-game losing streak.
Timberlake is set to perform five of his songs including, “Sexy Back,” “Rock Your Body,” “TKO,” “Suit & Tie,” “Mirrors,” and he said he would even throw in his own version of the Blue’s unofficial anthem, “Blue (Da Bo Dee)” by Eiffel 65.
This is an exciting time for the Memphis Blues in their first season as they are trying to make a name for themselves in the NFL. “Justin Timberlake is sure to give the crowd and our team that added boost we need to move forward and win some games for the remainder of our season. I cannot wait to see the fans response to Justin’s exciting performance!” said General Manager, Melissa Blum. This is Timberlake’s first time back on stage after taking time off to be with his family and his newborn son, Silas. “After a two-month break, we are sure to have a sell-out crowd to welcome Timberlake back to his hometown of Memphis,” said Sports Information Director Intern, Taylor Main.
Timberlake is set to perform after the end of the second quarter in the next official Monday Night Football game against the Orlando Oranges. “This is going to be a must-win match-up for the Blues as we look to sweep the Orange’s this season and with Timberlake performing during our halftime show, I know that this will motivate the team to come out on top. This will be on national television as the whole world watches. The boys know this, so I just hope the Orange’s know what is in store for them,” said Sports Information Director, Connor Archibald.
The next event and giveaway for the Memphis Blues is on Nov. 15, 2015 when the Honolulu Hammerheads roll into Memphis. The promotion will be Blue Hawaiian shirts that will be given to the first 10,000 fans to enter The Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. The Memphis Blues, unfortunately, have a losing record of 3-4, with a loss these past two weeks, putting them in sixth place in the league.
