MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Porkers will be one of 17 organizations participating in the NFL’s “A Crucial Catch” campaign this month in support of breast cancer awareness. Memphis will donate ten percent of all ticket sales at this Sunday’s pink out matchup against Team Supreme to the American Cancer Society. This with be Memphis’s first year participating in the campaign.
Every year during the month of October, the NFL runs the “A Crucial Catch” campaign to help raise money for breast cancer research. Memphis is the newest organization to join the cause. “We are excited to be involved in the NFL’s campaign fighting against breast cancer”, said Memphis General Manager Dennis DuLaney. Memphis has joined the cause because of owner Donald Trump’s wife’s recent battle with cancer. “The subject hits close to home for me, and I am proud to lend a hand so that others can have a chance to be a survivor, like my wife did when she was diagnosed with cancer”, said Trump. The organization is hoping to raise eight-hundred thousand dollars for the cause during Sunday’s game.
Memphis will also be auctioning off pink gear like hats, towels, etc. used by players and referees during Sunday’s game. The auction will be held on Oct. 31st, 2012 online at nfl.com/pink, and all proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
