Andre Brown Suffers Concussion and… Tweeting Felony?

BIRGMINGHAM, AL – Running back Andre Brown suffered a concussion during the first quarter of the game. The concussion came about when Brown was returning a kickoff.

The back of his head hit and bounced off the stadium turf. Brown was lead off the field and into the locker room to get checked out. The NFL confirmed that he had in fact suffered a concussion.

“We are monitoring Andre and will see if he is well enough to play next weeks game against the Las Vegas Sinners,” general manager Ryan Thomas said.

Currently the NFL is looking into what happened while Brown was in the locker room. “Everything is okay,” Brown tweeted while in the locker room after examination.

NFL rules state that a player can only tweet up to 90 minutes before kickoff and postgame after the press conference. At this time it is unknown if there will be any consequences. They know Brown was letting people know that he was ok but they also know the rules that they set in place with social media. In a similar case Troy Polamalu was fined $10,000 last year for calling his wife from the sidelines to tell her he was ok after suffering a concussion.

“We know the NFL has rules about social media but they should have a rule that the players can let fans know they are ok following a concussion,” Thomas said.

The Birmingham Bulldogs strive for a win along with a supportive fan base. For more information please contact Jocelyn Allen at allenjn@dukes.jmu.edu or visit our website at http://fantasy.nfl.com/league/1282253/team/5.
