PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 01, 2012- Robert Griffin III now has four touchdowns on the year after the first four games of the 2012 season. Griffin completed 26-of-35 passes for 323 yards, added seven carries for 43 yards and had a touchdown against the The Replacement Refs on Sunday.
The Pirate’s quarterback scored two touchdowns against Cam Hates Replacement Refs in week two, as well as one touchdown against the Memphis Porkers in week three. With his fourth rushing touchdown this season, Griffin has tied a record for quarterback rushing touchdowns with Eddie LeBaron and Joe Theismann.
Griffin’s 23.22 points was not enough to get the Pirates a victory against Drew Brees and The Replacement Refs, making the final score 98.54 to 58.12. This is the first week in the season that Griffin has scored below 25 points.
Aside from the loss, the Portland Pirates General Matthew Demsky and Public Relations professional Katy DiMenna have been very pleased with Griffin’s performance. “We have been very surprised so far,” Demsky said about Griffin on Sunday. “As a rookie, we were expecting him to be good, but he is really outdoing himself. Griffin is not afraid to try risky plays and run the ball which is why he has been so successful.”
Overall, Griffin has 1 touchdown, 747 passing yards, 209 yards and a rating of 103.5 for the current season. With 60 completions thus far, Griffin has had 1 interception and 4 fumbles.
The Portland Pirates are currently 2-2-0 and will be taking on the 2-1-0 Birmingham Bulldogs at Jeld-Wen Field next Sunday. The Pirates are scheduled 13 regular season games for the 2012-2013 season as a part of the IFFY conference. For more information about the Pirates Franchise, visit www.portlandpirates.com.
