Las Vegas, NV—After hoping to break a two-game losing streak, the Las Vegas Vipers fell short against the Columbas Commanders 125.78 to 100.04.
The Vipers can’t seem to get away from their players sustaining injuries as starting quarterback Jordan Love left in the third quarter of the game with a groin injury. Following him is Nico Collins who was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, but is hopeful to return to practice this week. Before Love was injured he tallied 5.74 points with 196 passing yards for the Vipers.
The top point contributors for the Vipers were wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and DeVonta Smith. Chase tallied 20.40 points and Smith tallied 20.50 in receiving yards. Both had one touchdown for the Vipers.
Next up in points for the Vipers was running backs Raheem Mostert and James Conner. Mostert tallied a total of 16.00 points with two touchdowns from 19 rushing yards and 11 receiving yards. Conner had 14.90 points from one touchdown with rushing 53 yards and 16 receiving. This was Conner’s fifth touchdown of the season.
Two players stayed rather quiet with the Vipers. Their tight end Jack Ferguson and wide receiver Demario Douglas did not have any touchdowns. Ferguson had eight catches and tallied 8.30 points, while Douglas had two catches and gathered only 3.20 points.
The Vipers are hopeful to try and break their losing streak in week 9. With the combination of adversity, consistency, and recovering players they can get all the moving pieces together.
The Las Vegas Vipers are set to face the Alaskan Bull Worms next week.
