PANAMA CITY, Florida—The Panama City Penguins fought hard in their Week 7 matchup but fell to the Brooklyn Colossus with a final score of 123.48 to 84.94.
The Penguins were led by quarterback Jayden Daniels, who put up 5.24 points. Daniels rushed for 50 yards and threw for 6 yards in a determined effort. While it wasn’t his strongest showing due to a rib injury, Daniels showed resilience, but it wasn’t enough to get the Penguins over the hump against a strong Colossus team.
Running back Aaron Jones proved to be a valuable contributor, adding 20.60 points to the scoreboard. Jones rushed for 93 yards, scored one rushing touchdown, and caught one pass for 23 yards. Though Jones performed well fighting through a hamstring injury, the Penguins’ overall offense struggled to match the intensity.
Amon-Ra St. Brown stood out as a top target, earning 25.20 points with 112 receiving yards and a touchdown on 8 receptions. He was a vital part of the offense, continuing to show his ability to make big plays for the Penguins’ air attack.
Stefon Diggs put up a strong effort, earning 7.30 points with 5 catches for 23 yards and a touchdown. But it was Chris Godwin who stepped up late in the game, finishing with 13.50 points from 7 receptions for 65 yards, providing the Penguins with solid numbers despite the loss.
After the game, Daniels reflected on the team’s performance:
“We knew we were up against a tough opponent today, and it didn’t go our way,” Daniels said. “But we’ll learn from this and come back stronger next week. We’re hungry to get back on track.”
The Penguins are now sitting at 4-3-0.
They’ll aim to bounce back and build on their strong season as they prepare for Week 8, versus the Chattanooga Chimpanzees. They’ll be looking to get back into the win column despite various injuries affecting the team as a whole.
