LAS VEGAS, Nev. – After a rough start to the season with three consecutive losses, the Vipers are back on track, securing their second win of the season in Week 5 against the Paradise Pink Panthers, 144.76-88.24.
The victory was fueled by a standout performance from wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, marking his best single-game showing since his 15-192-3 stat line in Week 5 last season. Chase currently leads the NFL in receiving yards over expected on both short passes (under 10 air yards, +98) and deep passes (over 10 air yards, +142) this season. In this game, he recorded 10 receptions, 193 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns, driving the Vipers to victory.
“I think we’ll move forward and be productive about that and not going to look back,” Chase stated after the game.
Wide receiver Nico Collins continued his consistent form this season, following up on a stellar performance last Sunday (7 receptions, 151 yards, 1 touchdown) with a solid effort of 2 receptions, 78 yards, and 1 touchdown in Week 5. Unfortunately, Collins exited the game with a hamstring injury, and he’s expected to miss next Sunday’s game.
Panthers wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. made a significant impact, narrowing the score gap with 5 receptions, 122 receiving yards, and 1 touchdown. Quarterback Baker Mayfield also contributed, throwing for 180 yards and 3 touchdowns while adding 42 rushing yards.
With momentum on their side, the Vipers are eagerly preparing to face the Panama City Penguins next week after their lose to the Harrisonburg Hornets. The team’s steady improvement shows promise as they continue to climb the standings.
