OKLAHOMA CITY, Ok. – The OKC Twisters keep their win streak alive as they dominate the Columbus Commanders in a 124.72-72.18 victory, thanks to dominant performances from Derrick Henry and Jayden Reed.
As the Twisters wrap up week 4, they are sitting at 4-0, an impressive undefeated record. While some areas of the team struggled, only securing 11 points from each starting running back. However, thanks to Jalen Hurts’ (QB) leadership on the field, and Jayden Reed’s (WR) incredible receiving performance, getting the win was no issue this week. But without the most dominant performance this week, from Derrick Henry, this week wouldn’t have been as memorable from the Twisters.
Jalen Hurts completed 18 passes in 30 attempts, with one passing touchdown. He rushed for 20 yards in eight attempts, with one rushing touchdown finishing the game with two total touchdowns, for a total of 16.32 points. In our run game, Josh Jacobs (RB) and Bijan Robinson had solid performances, Jacobs with 11.80 points, and Robinson with 11.40 points. Jayden Reed finished with 139 yards on seven receptions, and one touchdown, for a total of 27.10 points, a large contribution to the team. The real MVP of this week, however, was Derrick Henry, who rushed for a season high 199 yards and one touchdown, and a receiving touchdown as well. It was by far the most dominant performance of the season for the Twisters.
When asked about how Derrick Henry will be able to play this physical again for the rest of the season, the head coach of the Twisters said “I think he’s built for it. I’m sure he’s ready. We just have to go in there as a team and be on point, play winning football across the board, in every phase and every way, and give ourselves the best chance to come out victorious.”
The Twisters also racked up 8 points from their defense, and an astounding 18 points from kicker Younghoe Koo.
Now at 4-0, the Twisters look forward to continuing their dominant win streak as they face the Silverbeach Guardians in week 5.
