Zay Flowers scores touchdown – ESPN

OKLAHOMA CITY, Ok. — The Oklahoma City Twisters were able to successfully keep their undefeated record this week against the Silverbeach Guardians. Keeping a steady lead throughout the game the Twisters defeated the Guardians 116.74-62.34.

The Twisters as a whole all played their parts well in Sunday’s game however wide receiver Zay Flowers specifically stood out. Catching 7 of 12  targets for 111 yards Flowers, for the third time in his career, hit triple digit receiving yards.

Continuing to also be another big Twisters player is running back Derrick Henry who once again was a force in Sunday’s game. He carried the ball 15 times for 92 yards including a touchdown. He had a huge 51 yard run at the end of the game when the Guardians defense was feeling defeated. This also included a top running speed for Henry of 21.46 MPH this being 6th fastest speed in his career.

Also being a factor for the Twisters victory was running back Josh Jacobs. He rushed the ball 19 times for 73 yards including a touchdown helping the Twisters keep their lead. Quarterback Justin Fields also had a successful game throwing for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns.

As for the Guardians, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk seemed to be their only player to really put up points scoring 22.7. He caught 8 of 12 targets for 147 yards, helping to give the Guardians some hope. However with some players out, his performance wasn’t enough to keep them in the game.

The Twisters spirits were high after Sunday’s victory as they are first in the Varsity Blues division and the only team still undefeated being 5-0. Reports from the locker room express the team’s excitement and determination to keep working.

“We’ve been working hard and it’s been showing,” said Flowers after the game. “We’re really excited about how the season has gone so far and I think we can keep it going.”

Next week the Twisters will face probably their toughest battle against the New Jersey Squirrels (4-1). Being second in the division behind the Twister this should be one of the top games of the week as the Twisters travel to New Jersey hoping to keep their perfect record.
