Columbus, Ohio –  The Columbus Commanders were excited for their first week matchup against the Paradise Pink Panthers. They were ready to get their first win but came up short with 106.08-96.18 against their opponent.

Quarterback, Kyler Murray completed a total of 21 out of 31 passes on Sunday’s game. Murray threw for 162 yards and one touchdown and also rushed for 57 yards but unfortunately lost a fumble. Murray ended up with 14.18 points and was just short of his projected score which was 16.08.

The two best players who shocked the fans the most were Rhamondre Stevenson and Brandon Aubrey. Both of them ended on more than 10 points than they were originally projected to have. Stevenson had 25 carries along with an astounding touchdown. He successfully got all three targets for six yards. On an ending note, Stevenson recovered a fumble which resulted in a game turnaround.

You could say the Columbus Commanders have the best kicker in the league. Aubrey made all four of his field-goal attempts along with his three extra-point attempts. The attempt that people seem to be raving about is the one that happened right before a delay of game penalty. He nailed a 66-yarder that would’ve tied the record for the longest field goal in NFL history. Although they believe that he could’ve nailed another 71-yarder, they didn’t want to take the chance for the Pink Panthers to return it for a touchdown.

Falling behind in week 1 was wide receiver Puka Nacua and tight end Mark Andrews. Nacua was on a roll with four caught passes for 35 yards. He added on for seven yards until he landed on his knee during the second quarter. He got evaluated and headed back in the game but only to come out a few minutes later. The Commanders came out with a statement saying Puka sprained his PCL in his right knee. He will be out for at least 4 weeks. Mark Andrews was not the team’s target due to the team playing catchup. Andrews fell short of his projected score mostly because he was used as a blocker for the remainder of the game after his teammate headed to the locker room.

The Columbus Commanders better get their head in game next week when they face the Brooklyn Colossus’. They start the season 0-1, let’s see if they can make it a comeback season.
