I’m excited to kick off our very own Sports Public Relations Fantasy Football League this year! Whether you’re a seasoned fantasy veteran or completely new to the game, this is all about having fun, friendly competition, and, of course, earning some major bragging rights.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. League Setup: We’ll be using NFL.com as our platform. Instructions were shared during our first class session. Make sure to sign up now if you haven’t already by going to the SCOM Fantasy Football League site. The auto draft is scheduled for Aug. 29. You will be competing against teams in your own section and in the other Sports PR class. We have two divisions, one for each class. You will play your own classmates first and, then, against the other section.
2. Scoring System: Our league will follow the scoring format provided by NFL.com. As the commissioner, I’ll review any issues with points.
3. Decorum (or what not to say): I welcome friendly trash talking during the week and before and after games. However, please respect your opponent and teammates. Two-time Super Bowl Champion Coach Tom Coughlin was fond of saying, “Humble in victory.”
4. Besides the glory of winning, there is more on the line:
-
If you make the Top 4, you will get 10 extra credit points.
-
If you make the championship (Top 2), you will get an additional 5 extra credit points (15 points total).
-
The champion will get another 10 extra credit points (25 points total).
Feel free to ask any questions or share your fantasy football wisdom. I’ll also be competing against you. If you beat the professor, you may lose points in class. I’m kidding. That’s not ethical… or is it?
