NORFOLK, VA– JMU Baseball lost a tough one 6-3 in the series finale against their Virginia state rivals Old Dominion in what was a rather underwhelming offensive performance from the JMU Dukes.
JMU benefitted from Fenwick Trimble big two run shot in the top of 8th inning, and Coleman Calabrese sent one to the bleachers for what was his eighth homerun of the year. There wasn’t much else from the JMU bats as those three runs were the only scored
Old Dominion on the other hand, had their success collectively. With four different players registering RBIs, the Monarchs saw their offense connect greatly. ODU’s Luke Waters blasted a two run homerun for what was his first homer of the season. A massive moment for him and his team as they get a much needed conference victory.
After the game, Head Coach Marlin Ikenberry didn’t have much to say other than days like this happen, and that the team can’t lost faith in the offense that has helped so much this season
“There are a lot of games on our schedule… disappointed not to beat these guys (ODU) but we’ll get them again at some point. Just need to make sure we bring some of those baserunners home next time.”
JMU falls to 21-14 on the season and will travel to Lexington, Virginia to play VMI in another state rivalry game!
