JMU Lacrosse Senior Day victory against Temple University

Harrisonburg, VA – The James Madison Dukes faced American Athletic Conference opponent, Temple University on April 6th, 2024 at Sentara Park. After an intense game, JMU beat the Temple Owls, scoring 14-10

At the beginning of the game, Temple scored and gained possession of the field. Mackenzie Roth, Temple attacker, collected four goals within the whole game. Thanks to her goals at the beginning of the game, she gave Temple the lead. Temple’s Amelia Wright (3), Belle Mastropietro (2), and Julie Schinkling (1) helped Temple reach their score of 10 goals.

By halftime, the Dukes and Owls were tied 6-6, however JMU knew what to do. In doing so, they finished 4 goals more than Temple. Maddie Eyke (5), Katelyn Morgan (4), Lauren Savage (1), Olvia Mattis (1), and Kacey Knoblock (1) collected the 14 goals for JMU. 

Goalkeepers Caitlin Boden and Adanya Moyer made many saves throughout the game. 

Boden saved 5 of 21 shots faced as Moyer made four saves on eight shots faced. Temple’s goalkeeper, Taylor Grollman made 6 saves out of 31 shots faced. With her hard effort, she posted a .300 save percentage.

With this win, James Madison leads Temple in the all-time series, 7-4.

“We just made our point that it was our senior day, we needed to play a little bit better for our friends, our family is here to watch,” said senior Kacey Knobloch to Breeze TV. For graduating players, their senior game means that their college career playing lacrosse is coming to an end and many of their loved ones come to watch them give their all. 

This win ranked JMU Lacrosse No.12 in the nation in the ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll. 

The JMU Dukes will be on the road to Gainesville, Florida for their game against the University of Florida on Saturday, April 13 at 11:30 PM.
