HARRISONBURG, Va. — JMU comes back after being down in the first half of the senior day game against the Temple Owls on Saturday.
The Dukes quickly picked up their pace in the second quarter after trailing the Owls by two in the first quarter. Midfielder Maddie Epke collected 11 draw controls to dig the Dukes out of their deficit. Epke and attacker Katelyn Morgan dominated the Dukes offense, Epke putting away five goals with Morgan following by four.
The Dukes defense was rattled after the first quarter, but junior Maggie Clark composed the team with two ground balls and disturbed the Owls offense with two caused turnovers. Freshman Ava Bleckley saw the field once again picking up three ground balls, with the help of teammate Courtney Quirk causing two turnovers.
In the net, goalkeepers Caitlin Boden and Adayna Moyer helped keep the Dukes afloat with Boden’s .417 save percentage and Moyer having a career-high of a .517 save percentage.
This game kept the Dukes grounded after they dominated University of Richmond with a 18-12 win. This win against the Owls brings their record to 10-3, standing at 14th in the nation.
The Dukes will travel to the University of Florida next week to take on the No. 10 Gators.
