RICHMOND, Va. – The No.12 James Madison Dukes didn’t let the April showers stop them from securing a win over the Richmond Spiders on Wednesday with a final score of 18-12. With just 43 seconds on the clock in the first quarter, Kacey Knobloch put JMU on the board with a goal. Derey and Epke followed Knoblock giving the dukes a 3-0 lead, but the Spiders scored 2 goals ending the quarter 3-2.
Offense was an unstoppable force during this matchup with seniors Kacey Knobloch, Katelyn Morgan, and Isabella Peterson all putting up 4 goals for the Dukes. JMU was a dominant leader the whole game maintaining strong offense and defense. After the first half, it was 13-7 and the Dukes continued to dominate the field with a final score of 18-12.
The Dukes all-time record against Richmond following this matchup became 47-3, and also became their 13th consecutive victory over an A10 opponent. It was also a big game for Knobloch and Morgan as the points they scored moved them to 17th and 18th in all-time points in JMU history.
The Dukes will return back to Harrisonburg this Saturday, April 6th at noon against Temple. Not only will it be a strong match-up between Temple who is currently 8-3, 3-0, but it is also Senior Day for the Dukes.
