HARRISONBURG, Va — The James Madison University Dukes earned another crushing win against Fairfield sweeping them in the final game with a score of 16-4 in just 7 innings.
The Dukes have won their last four games in a row, making them 5-3, bumping the Fairfield Stags to 0-6. Brendan O’Donnell went 3-for-3 in home runs and had a career-high of six RBI’s. Coleman Calabrese had a consistent home runs for now his third consecutive game.
Mike Mancini and Fenwick Trimble went back-to-back to begin the strong 3-0 lead for JMU. An RBI single from Trimble in the second inning pushed a 4-0 lead before Fairfield earned an infield single. O’Donnell hit his first home run of the game in the bottom of the third, pushing a 5-1 lead.
Fairfield cut the lead in half with a three-run homer in the fifth making a 8-4 score, but the Dukes retaliated with a five-run inning, with hits from Wyatt Peifer, Nic Poole’s, and O’Donnell. Jack Guerrero made a hefty score of 16-4 for the Dukes.
The Dukes are away now after this past stretch of eight home games in nine games. They’ll head to Fairfax to take on George Mason on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m.
