Harrisonburg, Va.- The JMU women’s lacrosse team remains undefeated after their match against Albany this past Sunday.

They started off last Thursday with a defeat over former CAA rival Towson and finished strong on Sunday by beating Albany. They dominated with a 21-12 win, even though they were missing a key player, Isabella Peterson, due to a red card she received in the Towson game.

The Dukes’ offense has been a vital part of their undefeated season.   They have one of the best offenses in the country right now, averaging 18.4 goals per game, which will be an immense weapon as they move through this season. Offenders Katelyn Morgan and Maddie Epke have been the lead goal scorers of this team so far this season.

The Dukes’ defense is young but improving. They are held together by JMU’s goalie, Caitlin Boden, who has remained confident and calm in front of the net. Some key dictators of just how far this talented team will go depends on the ability of the team to cause turnovers and win draw controls.

After Thursday’s game against Towson, JMU head coach Shelley Klaes said, “Our ability to manage leads and control runs is going to be paramount as our offensive unit puts us on the board early in the games.”

The Dukes will be on the road again this Saturday to compete against Furman in Greenville, S.C., at 11:00 a.m.
