Portland – The Portland Porcupines came into this game wanting to build on their momentum from their week 7 win. With some record career performances they were able to do just that, beating the Honolulu Hammerheads 172.00 to 142.74.

The Porcupines had two skill players record 3 touchdown games. Running back Alvin Kamara recorded two receiving touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdowns along with 158 total yards totaling him at 42.8 points, by far his best performance of the season. Wide Receiver A.J. Brown also recorded 3 receiving touchdowns and 156 yards for his career best best performance of 40.6 points.

Quarterback Tom Brady recorded 26.1 points on 325 yards passing and 1 touchdown. While Brady has not been the Tom that we remember from many past seasons, it is worth noting that he has not thrown an interception since Week 1.

Another notable performance from week 8 comes from Antonio Gibson, the Porcupines second running back. Gibson put up his season best 24.8 points with 118 yards and one touchdown. Gibson has really hit his stride since being moved to primary kick returner as 41 of his yards came off of Special Teams.

When asked about the win, Coach Bill Branks commented on the resilience of his team. “Each week we come in to every game with an open mind and the knowledge that we can put together a performance like we did this week. Each of our guys know what they need to do and how to do it it. It was only a matter of time until all of our guys played up to their potential and we put together performance like today. Overall it was a really good team win”.

In week 9, the Porcupines take on the Harrisonburg Valley Bees at Bridgeforth Stadium. Two of the most dynamic receivers in the league in A.J. Brown and Jaylen Waddle face off in what are considered two of the most high octane offenses in the league. One of the Bees best starters in Running back Nick Chubb will be on a bye week, meaning Tony Pollard is in line to start. This will be a matchup to watch as a win next week could propel the Porcupines into second place with in the SCOM Fantasy Classic.
