Manatees impress Against Crocodiles in Week 8, News Brief #5

Manatees’ wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins makes a one-handed catch for a touchdown at the end of the second quarter

MEXICO CITY – The Mexico City Manatees put in a standout performance in their week eight match up against the Orlando Crocodiles, defeating them 181.16 – 79.52.

The Manatees backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke had a solid performance, scoring 37.06 points. Heinicke threw for 279 passing yards with one touchdown, but did throw one interception in the fourth quarter.

 Manatees’ running back Travis Etienne had a standout performance scoring 37.5 total points from 156 rushing yards and one touchdown. The Crocodiles’ running back combined for 27 total points in the matchup.

Manatees’ wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins had another great performance, beating out Crocodiles’ wide receiver Chris Godwin with 34.90 points. Hopkins had 159 receiving yards and one touchdown in the game.

In the post-game conference, Head Coach Nick Alouf spoke on the team’s win.

“It was great to see the team bounce back from a tough loss against Harrisonburg last week. The team showed great character and was able to fire on all cylinders leading us to an incredible victory. We definitely want to see the guys carry this momentum into the rest of the season ahead.”

The win brought the Manatees’ record to 5-3.

The Manatees will be facing the Boise Spuds next week at Spud Stadium in Boise, ID.
