The Spuds Bounce Back Against The Oxen in Week 7 – Week #7 Game Note

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. – The Boise Spuds had the slight edge over The Oklahoma City Oxen in a thrilling week two matchup winning 93.40 – 89.2 at the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

The Spuds had strong performances by wide receiver Chris Olave who caught seven catches for 106 yards, tallying 18.60 points. The next leading scorer for Boise was running back Ezekiel Elliott. Elliott had 57 rushing yards along with two touchdowns, racking up 17.70 points.

Boise’s offense was solid but Oklahoma City’s team responded well. Oklahoma City’s Justin Herbert recorded 293 passing yards for two touchdowns, along with 22 rushing yards. Herbert finished with 32.12 points. The next leading scorer for the Oxen was the Dallas Cowboys Defense. They allowed only 6 points while recording two interceptions, five sacks, and three fumble recoveries. They finished with 22.0 points.

In the post game press conference, Head Coach Austin Wilkins was fired up about the close win.

“This is what you live for, this right here. Games like this really show you what your team is all about. The guys showed a lot of grit and gave maximum effort each play. If we continue to play like this, we will be a problem for the rest of the league.”

The win brought the Spuds’ record to 4-3.

Boise will be on the road again next week and will look to keep the winning streak going against the Toronto Mounties at OVO stadium.
