OKLAHOMA CITY – The Boise Spuds left the Oxen in defeat for the seventh week in a row with the final score of this week’s game being 89.02- 93.40. The Oxen’s season record is 0-7, having yet to win a single game this season.
Oxen quarterback Justin Herbert was the Oxens top scorer this week and showed a strong performance scoring 32.12 points this week, 6.70 more points than last week’s game. Herbert completed 33 of 51 passes, scoring two touchdowns. The Oxens second highest scorer this week was tight end Evan Engram scoring 10.70 points. Engram caught four out seven passes to him for 67 yards, which is only two yards short of his season high.
The Oxen offense struggled this week due to injuries. Running back D’Andre Swift scored no points due to both a shoulder and ankle injury leaving him unable to play in the week seven game. Running back James Robinson was also unable to play scoring no points due to a season ending knee injury he suffered.
The Oxen defense are the sack leaders of the league and rank third with only allowing an average of 16.3 points per game. During this week’s game the Oxen defense were able to make five sacks, made two interceptions, and three fumble recovers. While these numbers are all outstanding, the Spuds defense was too strong for the Oxen offense.
In a post-game conference, head coach Dylan McCarty tries to stay hopeful for the games to come.
“It is important that all Oxen fans try to keep hope for the team in the next games to come. The Oxen have been training harder than ever and are hoping for a win here soon.”
Next week’s match up will be a challenge against the St. Louis Bison who took their first loss last week and are currently 6-1.
