St. Louis. – The Honolulu Hammerheads got back to their winning ways this weekend against the St. Louis Bison, defeating them 123.82-112.36.
The Hammerheads were 2-4 following last weeks home loss to the Omaha Cobs, but remained optimistic going into this weeks game due to the team’s win streak earlier this season.
The Hammerheads depth was on display this week as six of their players scored double digit points. Even with Running Back Miles Sanders out of the lineup, the Hammerheads Running Backs continued their strong production as Joe Mixon had 91 scrimmage yards and a rushing touchdown for 18.10 points and Dameon Pierce had 117 scrimmage yards for 15.70 points.
The game was close throughout as the previously unbeaten Bison refused to go down without a fight. Star Bison Wide Receiver Davante Adams had 8 receptions for 95 yards and 17.50 points in the loss.
In the post-game press conference, Team Captain Travis Kelce conveyed his excitement over the win but preached caution.
“Anytime you go on the road in this league and get a win that’s an accomplishment, especially against a team like the Bison. We’re gonna celebrate this one for sure but get back to work even more motivated. We’re focused on stringing together at least a few more performances like this one.”
The Hammerheads will return home next weekend to take on the 4-3 Portland Porcupines at Aloha Stadium. The focus will be on Tight End Travis Kelce and co. as they look to secure a second straight win.
