Week #5 Game Note #3: Manatees Make Comeback Win Against Crabs

MEXICO CITY – The Mexico City Manatees pull off a comeback win against the Charleston Crabs moving them up to 7th place in the rankings.

The Mexico City Manatees had the home field advantage working for them Tuesday night against the Charleston Crabs, ending with a score of 139.18 to 137.82. The win was a season record for the Manatees, and dropped the Crabs down to 13th in the league. The game was extremely close with only a 1.36 point difference, being the smallest win margin in the league all season. After coming off of a loss in week 4, the Manatees

Manatees’ Quarterback Patrick Mahomes had another great performance during week 5, leading the offense once again with 45.48 points, 4 touchdowns, 292 passing yards, and 28 rushing yards. Manatees’ Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb had another greek week, scoring 10.30 points. Running Back Dalvin Cook scored 26.10 points for the Manatees. Cook had 94 rushing yards, 27 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns. His performance during the close game ranked him at 7th highest scoring Running Back in the league. Manatees’ Running Back Rhamondre Stevenson was a help to the team along with Cook, scoring 20.50 points with a record high 161 rushing yards, 25 touches, and 14 receiving yards.

While the Manatees came out onto with the win, they had tough competition against the Crabs. Crabs’ Kicker Mason Crosby went 2-2 on field goal attempts this week. Crosby has now scored two field goals in each game the past two weeks. Wide Receiver Gabe Davis lead the Crabs with 39.10 points during week 4, but it was still not enough to lead them all the way to victory. Crabs’ Quarterback Matthew Stafford was no match for Mahomes, only scoring 26.32 points.

In a post game interview with Head Coach Nick Alouf, he spoke on his excitement for the team’s win.

“I’m proud of the team for their win, especially coming off of a tough loss last week. Our offense and defense both put forth a fantastic performance, and it was great to see the hard work from last week’s practices paying off. I’m hoping we can keep the energy up coming off of this win into next week.”

The Manatees are looking at another twin next week against the Oklahoma City Oxen.
