SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake City Seagulls lost at home to the Portland Porcupines with a final score of 137.52-83.50.
The Seagulls had a few solid performances on offense mainly from Quarterback Kirk Cousins, who had a decent day going 20/30 with 175 yards and 2 touchdowns. Running Back Kenneth Walker, who has now become a mainstay in the offense following the injury to both Rashaad Penny and Javonte Williams had a good day as well totaling 97 yards and a touchdown rushing.
Walker spoke with the media about his increased role this week.
“It is unfortunate to see those guys go down, you never want to see anyone get injured, but when coach called my number, it was the next man up. I just have to keep making the most out of my opportunities. I have to thank the big guys up front because without them I’m not able to do what I do.”
The Seagulls defense did not perform to their usual high standard, allowing 18 points and forcing no turnovers. Only adding three points to Salt Lake City’s total.
The Porcupines were led by a big day from second year Wide Receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who hauled in 7 receptions for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns, totaling a league high 36.20 points for the Porcupines.
The Seagulls (2-4) are set to travel to Austin to take on the Roadrunners at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium
