OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha Cobs played well, but not well enough to make it past the St. Louis Bisons on their home turf, in their 4th loss of the season (120.18 – 144.94).
Despite the fact that the cobs are still winless, it was DK Metcalf and Kyler Murray that had phenomenal games together in week 4, as they totalled 58.78 points in the hard fought match-up. Cobblestone Corn-on-the-cob Jr. considered benching these players after these last couple week’s performances, but they stood out compared to others.
“I think the team was a bit too lax this week in terms of production, I believe that if we single out players, it takes the weight off of the shoulders of others, which shouldn’t be the case. Those two guys were the only ones out there, and it seems we’ve got a lot of work to do if we want to compete” Coach had to say in this week’s press conference.
Cobs RB Christian McCaffrey totalled a strong 25.80 points but nevertheless, it was the strength of the Bison offense and the weakness of our role players that made the final score such a blowout. The Bison’s TE T.J. Hockenson was a force to be reckoned with this week, totaling a whopping 40.90 points. Defensive coordinator Dwayne “The Cob” Johnson had this to say in our press conference after the game:
“We can’t keep letting these teams get away with this many points. Sure, we can bring some players up from the bench, but it’s the strength, or should I say, the weakness of our defense that’s letting down the fanbase and our offensive players’ standout performances” Johnson stated. The Cobs are still looking for their first win of the season, and if they can’t win against the Toronto Mounties on the Corn Field, then it may be time to start considering tanking.
