THE OMAHA COBS HAD A ROUGH SEASON OPENER AGAINST THE MEXICO CITY MANATEEES

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha Cobs fought valiantly this past Sunday against the MexicoΒ City Manatees, but lost to the Manatees (99.22 – 106.80) in the openingΒ week.Β

The Cobs put up a tough fight until the later afternoon games and the night game on Sunday and the Monday night game. The Cobs were relying on their star wide receiver, DK Metcalf to produce more than 36 yards of receiving, but he did not produce as expected. Had he gotten a touchdown in the season opener along with his recorded yards, it would have been a different story.

Several members of the Cobs were unable to perform well this past weekend. Despite the recent contract extension for Dawson Knox, the tight end was only responsible for an abysmal one reception and five yards. To add, wide receiver Amari Cooper only mustered three receptions and seventeen yards.Β

Patrick Mahomes, the QB of the Manatees had a monster season opener pouring in 55.90 fantasy points, whereas the WR/RB/T core, along with the kicker and defense didn’t have to do much to get past the Cobs.Β Β

After the game D.K. Metcalf discussed his frustrations with his performance. He said, β€œI should have caught more passes. Kyler did a fantastic job with ball placement, but I could not catch.”

The Cobs are expecting to shake the rust off after a tough week one. β€œThe team has great confidence in their players as they roll into week 2,” said Cobblestone Corn-on-the Cob Jr. in the post-game interview. We are facing the Harrisonburg Valley Bees in week 2 and it will be a big momentum shifter for the rest of the season.Β
