AUSTIN, Texas – The Roadrunners suffer a defeating loss to the Snow Tigers 97.50 to 147.02 in their season opener at home. Due to injury troubles, the Roadrunners were tasked with difficult circumstances in their week 1 battle.
The Roadrunners suffered a hard loss due to the injuries of running back Elijah Mitchell with a MCL sprain and wide receiver Tee Higgins with a concussion. Due to injuries, the team restructured their line-up by moving Cordalle Patterson to starting running back and Zach Ertz to starting tight end for their game against the Omaha City Oxen.
Head coach Kevin Jenkins said in a post game interview, “We’re hoping for a speedy recovery for our players, but we have the resources to fill in those spots.” Coach Zac Taylor said after the game, “He wanted to go in. That’s just not the way we can do it.”
The Snow Tigers had 3 monster performances from quarterback Jalen Hurts (28.72), running back Saquon Barkely (33.40) and wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (28.10). Not to mention their RB2, Kareem Hunt, provided some more support with 70 yards and two touchdowns (points).
The Roadrunners next game is against the Oklahoma City Oxen, which is projected to play in the Roadrunners favor by the end of the game.
