SALT LAKE CITY- The Sacramento Salamanders three game winning streak came to an end against the Salt Lake City River Otters in Week 8 with a score of 139.30 to 112.60.

It was a rough week for the Salamanders with running back James Robinson being forced to come out of the game due to a bruised heel, and it is still uncertain if he will be able to play next week.  Leonard Fournette, their other running back, had a rough game as well earning only 6.30 points. The Otters running back Chase Edmond earned 15.90 points, which is more than both Salamanders running backs combined.

It was a close match-up for quarterback Matthew Stafford, earning 35.30 points, and quarterback Ryan Tannehill, earning 37.20 points. Stafford completed 21 of 32 pass attempts for 305 yards and three touchdowns while Tannehill completed 23 of 33 pass attempts for 265 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing for 26 yards on two carries.  Both players put up a tough competition and had overall good games.

Salamanders wide receiver Adam Thielen also had a strong game coming off of a recent foot injury, earning 19.80 points. In a press conference on Sunday night, Thielen talked more about the game.

“It felt good to get back on the field after injuring my foot a few weeks ago and having a bye week last week.  It was a tough loss but we’re coming back stronger next week and are hoping for a big win.”

The Salamander’s record is now 5-2 and they are ready to put up a fight at Heineken Field against the Harrisonburg Valley Bees in week nine.
