Harrisonburg, Virginia – The Sacramento Salamanders (4-2) played against the Salt Lake City Cougars (1-5) this week and they came away with a big team victory. The Salamanders won 139.86 to 75.34, placing them in first in the division.
After a week 6 win against the Orlando Hurricanes, the Sacramento Salamanders had a very successful game plan in week 7. Quarterback Matthew Stafford played his heart out again, as he scored 43.16 points for the Salamanders. Myles Gaskin and Devante Adams accumulated 40.20 points as both players brought their best to the field in week 7. Our Breakout performance this week was out wide receiver Russel Gage that usually sits on the bench. Gage brought in 4 receptions for 67 receiving yards and a touchdown giving him 17.70 points. Russell Gage went from being a bench option to an x-factor in the Salamander’s week 7 victory.
The Salt Lake City Cougars never struck fear into the Salamander’s eyes this week, as they didn’t have any players have a breakout game. The only starting player on the Cougars to reach the endzone was Calvin Ridley, as he accumulated 4 receptions for 26 receiving yards and a touchdown. Besides wide receiver Ridley, the Cougars struggled to find the endzone, therefore the Salamanders handed them their sixth loss of the season.
After Russel Gage’s Breakout Performance here is what he had to say about the game.
“It was a great team win. The other team was doubling Calvin Ridley in the endzone, therefore I was trying my best to get open for my quarterback. Everyone on the team did their job and I’m proud we were victorious!”
The Sacramento Salamanders after the win sit at second in the division and third in the league. After that win, the Salamanders move to 5-2 as they look onto week 8 against the Salt Lake City River Otters.
Next week the Sacramento Salamanders will face the Salt Lake City River Otters, as they look to extend their winning streak to 3 games. The Salt Lake river Otters are currently 2-5.
