Cadets quarterback Lamar Jackson had a monster game, scoring 74.88 points on 37 completions for 442 yards and 4 touchdowns while also rushing for 62 yards. Cougars Quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 25 passes for 275 yards with one touchdown and an interception for 29.4 points. Second in points with 11.10 was running back Mike Davis who rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns. The Cadets defense held the Cougars to 64 total rushing yards.
In the post game press conference, head coach John Harbaugh praised his team’s dominant performance.
“I was proud of our guys for taking control and setting the tempo from the start. Lamar was terrific, his best game in the four years he has been with us. We ran the football well and made a number of big plays. Hats off to our defense for holding a good Cougars offense in check for much of the game. I’m happy with the improvement our guys are making each week and this win definitely gives us momentum as we start preparing for our big week 6 matchup against the Alligators.”
The win moves the Cadets record to 2-3 on the season and the Cougars fall to 0-5. The Cadets will be on the road next weekend against the Orlando Orange Alligators (5-0) at Tropicana Stadium.
