LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach Sharks had a dominant week 5 victory over the Knoxville Knighthawks. After losing 3 in a row, the Sharks stepped up their game and really put on a clinic against the Knighthawks. With a final score of 163.98 to 126.80, this was a statement win for the Long Beach Sharks.

The Sharks took the lead early in the game and did not take their foot off the pedal for the remainder of the matchup. They put up nearly a whopping 164 points and showed Knoxville absolutely no mercy. This starts with a great quarterback performance from Dak Prescott, who completed 22 passes for 302 yards and 3 touchdowns. Prescott threw one interception and fumbled the ball one time but in the end was still able to put up a very solid 33.68 points.

The receivers on the Sharks had a great showing as well this week. With both of the Sharks receivers combining for 69.50 points, they were firing on all cylinders. Robert Woods scored the Sharks 28 points by catching 12 passes for 150 yards and unfortunately he did not find the endzone on any of these receptions. Mike Williams also had a great day, scoring an outrageous 41.50 points. Williams got this done from his 8 receptions for 165 yards and on two of these receptions he found the endzone for two touchdowns. These two players were able to make up for the lack of production from TE, Jack Doyle, as he only had one reception for 4 yards throughout the entirety of the game.

In the backfield, things were just clicking for Najee Harris as he rushed for 122 yards and one touchdown. He also managed to squeeze two receptions in for 20 yards just for a couple extra points to put his point total at 23.20. While Joe Mixon didn’t rush for more than 35 yards, he was able to score one touchdown this weekend and put up a solid 10.50 point performance. At the flex position, Josh Jacobs ran for 48 yards and one touchdown as well as 4 receptions for 19 yards. This gave the Sharks flex a 16.70 point performance.

The Knoxville Knighthawks gave all they had with a few great performances from some of their star players. Knoxville quarterback Josh Allen threw 15 completions for 315 yards and 3 touchdowns as well as a solid rushing performance as he had 59 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown. Allen totaled for a crazy 44.50 point performance. Kareem Hunt also went off this week, scoring 2 touchdowns. Hunt ran for 61 yards and added 5 receptions for 28 yards which left him with a 25.90 point performance. The Knighthawks receivers each had a touchdown but their receiving yards were not enough to make an impact large enough for them to get the win. Hopkins had 6 receptions for 87 yards and one touchdown and Amari Cooper had 3 receptions for 60 yards and one touchdown. What really hurt the Knighthawks was an ankle injury that star running back, Saquan Barkley suffered which took him out for the remainder of the game.

While the Knoxville Knighthawks put forth a strong effort, it was not enough to top the Long Beach Sharks in this weeks matchup. I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to talk to the Sharks head coach, Robert Barrett, after the game who had this to say, “After a 3 game losing streak, it feels good to come out with a huge victory this week. We could not be happier with this performance but now we will move on to next week and keep the momentum rolling. We need to stay focused and locked in this week during practice and make sure we have the same outcome next week.”

If Long Beach continues to play like they did this week, they will be a very tough team to beat this season.
