HONOLULU – Honolulu Riptides suffered their first loss against the Orange Alligators Sunday night (128.18 – 144.14) after a struggling performance from Patrick Mahomes.

“It was a tough game this week on my end of the field and facing Tom Brady was more of a challenge then I thought it was going to be,” says Patrick Mahomes, Riptides’ starting quarterback.

The matchup between the Orange Alligators and the Honolulu Riptides for week 5 was a highly anticipated one as the Orange Alligators are the number one team in the league and the Riptides are ranked second. Heading into this week’s game both teams were sitting at a (4-0) win streak, as well as both teams Quarterbacks were projected to have a relatively close game. Tom Brady, QB for the Orange alligators, was projected to earn 20.06 points while Patricks Mohomes, QB for the Riptides, was projected to earn 21.98 points. The Orange Alligators were projected to come out of the game with a win and to earn a total of 144.14, while the Riptides were projected to only earn 128.18 points.

Riptides Wide Receiver, Kenny Golladay, was scheduled for an MRI to look at an injury regarding a hyperextended knee and was labeled as “questionable” for this week’s game. Orange Alligators QB, Tom Brady was also labeled as questionable for this week’s game due to a thumb injury.

The Orange Alligators were led to a shutout victory by QB Tom Brady with 411 passing yards and five touchdown passes (61.74 points) and Running Back Ezekiel Elliott with 110 rushing yards and one touchdown (26.20 points). Meanwhile Riptides QB Patrick Mahomes only had 272 passing yards with one touch down and 21 incomplete passes (29.98). Mahomes was projected to only score 21.98 points, and he did surpass that however for the last four weeks Mahomes has been scoring between 40 and 50 points. So his performance this week was much less than the fans are used to seeing from him. The slack from Mahomes was picked up by the Riptides RB Austin Ekeler as he had 66 rushing yards and two touchdowns (30.90 points) and WR DK Metcalf with 98 receiving yards and two touchdowns (26.80).

The Honolulu Riptides take on the Harrisonburg Valley Bees upcoming Sunday at 7 p.m. at Bridgeforth Stadium (Harrisonburg, Virginia). It will be an interesting matchup as the Valley Bees QB and defense have bye weeks. The Riptides are projected to earn 120.31 points while the Valley Bees are only projected to earn 88.13 points.
