KNOXVILLE, TN – The Knoxville Knighthawks suffer a devastating loss to the Sacramento Salamanders, losing 150.72 to 178.02 in the third week of the season. While the Knighthawks put up a good effort, they ultimately fell short to the Salamanders whose record has advanced to 2-1 on the season.

Quarterback Josh Allen led the charge for the Knighthawks, throwing for an impressive 358 yards while also scoring or throwing for a total of 5 touchdowns (59.22 points). The running backs for the Knighthawks helped carry the load, as Kareem Hunt rushed for 74 yards and 1 touchdown (27.50 points), while Saquon Barkley contributed 43 yards and 1 touchdown (21.40 points) as well.

In their win, Salamander’s quarterback Matthew Stafford put up an impressive 49.52 points while throwing for 343 yards and netting 4 touchdowns. Assisting their quarterback was wide receiver Davante Adams who scored 32.20 points while receiving for 132 yards on the night.

Following their second loss in a row, reporters met with Knoxville head coach, Micah Scott, who had no shortage of words about the team performance.

“We need to do better, that’s just it. It’s early in the season but we can’t fall into bad habits. As a team we need to tighten up and hold each other accountable in practice… and on the field.”

Despite being the harshest loss for the Knighthawks, one bright side is the team gained the most points this game than any of their other games this season. While unfortunate, this may be signs of the Knighthawks finally getting into their groove.

The Knoxville Knighthawks are slated to play the San Diego Sea Lions whose record mirror the Knighthawks at one win and two losses.
