HONOLULU– San Diego Sea Lions running back Deandre Swift and wide receiver Chris Godwin had big days, but ultimately not enough to push the Sea Lions over the Honolulu Riptides. It was a high scoring affair with a final of 138.08 – 118.98.
Swift and Godwin were the two highest scoring skill players this week. Swift carried the ball 11 times while picking up 39 yards and grabbed eight of his team-high 11 targets for 65 yards and a touchdown, racking up 25.40 points. Godwin hauled in nine of his 14 targets for 105 yards and a touchdown, amassing 23.5 points.
“Kicking off this season, I am really proud of my offensive line and the work they put in this game,” said Patrick Mahomes, Riptide’s quarterback.
The ultimate downfall of the San Diego Sea Lions came from the defensive performance, being the only defence to post negative points in the league. Neither team’s defense had an impressive performance in general with the Riptides posting 0.00 points.
“This game was a tough one, defensively we obviously need to make some improvements and hopefully we are able to do so for a more impressive season,” said Brandon Aiyuk, Sea Lions’ WR.
