CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Sacramento Salamanders took their first victory Sunday, defeating the Charleston Cadets in South Carolina 129.34 – 106.20. It was a close game up until the fourth quarter when the late heroics changed up the game and led the team to victory.

The Sacramento Salamanders were spearheaded by the duo of QB Matthew Stafford and WR Adam Stafford was 20-26 for 321 yards and 3 touchdowns, resulting in 45.34 fantasy points, while Thielen caught 10 balls for 92 yards and 2 touchdowns, earning 30.2 points.

Stafford had one of the top performances of the day racking up 321 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air. Here’s what he had to say on the day.“Today was an awesome season opener,” Stafford said, “we had a really good game plan and point of attack. The O-line was great and gave me time to make good reads and throws all day”.  Adam Thielen also had a top 10 performance day for wide receivers but came up a little short in overtime to the Bengals. “You know it’s great to go out and have a good game and do my part but ultimately it means nothing leaving here with the Loss,” Thielen added his thoughts after the loss.

The Charleston Cadets are now 0-1 after QB Lamar Jackson’s timing seemed to appear off on a number of passes and handoffs, but he was still able to complete 19 of 30 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown.  Tight end Travis Kelce was also able to bring in 25.60 points for the Cadets with 76 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Next week the Phoenix Flames (0-1) will host the Sacramento Salamanders (1-0). There will be a great quarterback battle between Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford. Stafford will look to continue his hot start, where Rodgers will try to find his groove with the Flames’ receiving corps. The Salamanders are going into week 2 as the seventh best team, while the Flames fulfill the bottom of the standings at 14th. SCOM FC shows that this week’s matchup will be close. The Salamanders are projected at 124.40 pts., while the Flames are projected at 121.56 pts. The Flames projection in points is greater in the quarterback, tight end, flex, and kicker position. The Salamander’s projection is greater in the wide receiver, running backs, and defense.
