ORLANDO, Fla. – Starting off the season, the Orlando Orange Alligators defeated the Knoxville Knighthawks 130.66-123.90. This was the first meeting between the two teams.
At home in the brand-new Tropicana Stadium, the Orange Alligators rode a strong performance from quarterback Tom Brady, who threw for 379 yards and for touchdowns, racking up 43.16 Fantasy Points. Orlando got a big production from its trio of wide receivers. Antonio Brown had 121 yards and a touchdown for a total of 25.70 Fantasy Points. D.J. Moore had six receptions for 80 yards, picking up 16.30 points; and A.J. Brown had 14.90 points from 49 receiving yards and a touchdown.
“We won,” said Brady, “but we know it was far from perfect.”
“There was no doubt that we’re going to win the game with him. It’s just who’s going to make the plays,” Orlando’s head coach Bruce Arians added.
On the opposing team, running back Ezekiel Elliott got 13 touches but only tallied 39 yards, while Saquon Barkley only managed 27 yards on 11 touches for the Knighthawks. The defense had a disappointing performance allowing 33 points and is looking to improve next week.
Next week, the Orange Alligators will compete against the San Diego Sealions Sunday, Sept. 19. The game is at 7:00 p.m. at the Tropicana Stadium and will be aired on NBC.
