Week 1 game note – Honolulu Riptides

HONOLULU – Honolulu Riptides win a shocking victory against San Diego Sea Lions Sunday night (138.08- 118.98 points) despite their disorganized defensive players. 

“I am very proud of my team for pulling through and playing strong, despite the injuries,” says Patrick Mahomes, Riptides’ starting quarterback. 

Heading into last week’s game the Riptides had three players placed on the injury list; running back Austin Ekeler, wide receiver Kenny Galloday, and tight end Evan Engram. The Riptides defense also struggled with bringing the team many points, offering no rushing yards or touchdowns. The Riptides defense allowed 34 points (0.0 points). 

San Diego Sealions was led by Justin Herbert with 337 passing yards and one touchdown (28.38 points) and D’Andre Swift, who scored 39 rushing yards, and one touchdown (25.40 points).

The Honolulu Riptides take on the Long Beach Sharks upcoming Sunday at 7 p.m. at Sofi Stadium (Inglewood, Calif.). It will be an interesting matchup between RB Miles Sanders and RB Najee Harris, both high scoring players and projected to score a high number of yards.
