Vipers back-to-back losses is nothing to worry about

Austin, Texas – The San Antonio Chaps managed to topple the Austin Vipers in their week 8 matchup at Darrell K Royal Stadium, defeating the Vipers 116.30 – 93.08.

The Vipers got a big bounce-back performance from Quarterback Cam Newton who had 15 completions for 174 passing yards, adding 54 yards and a touchdown on 9 rushes, scoring 22.36 points. WR Stefon Diggs had another fantastic week reeling in 6 catches for 92 yards, good for 15.20 points.

Despite big performances from the Vipers stars it wasn’t enough to get over the tough San Antonio Chaps. The Chaps’ QB Ryan Tannehill completed 18 passes throwing for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns as well as adding 20 yards on the ground, racking up 23.32 points. Running back Derrick Henry ran for 112 yards and a touchdown, compiling 18.20 points.

Coach Stephen spoke about the difficult loss this week against the 2nd place San Antonio Chaps.

“We thought we would have gotten some different looks this week and unfortunately we couldn’t close it out, we prepared as best we could, the Chaps are a great organization, and I’m sure it’s not the last time we see them this year.”

The loss brings the Vipers to .500 at a record of 4-4.

Austin will be on the road next week and will look to get back in the win column against the Honolulu Volcanoes at Aloha Stadium.
