LOUISVILLE, Ken. – The Louisville Mustangs cruised to their second victory of the season on Sunday, beating the Memphis Soul (125.16-105.10). The Mustang’s never trailed in this game and held off a late push by Memphis.
Mustang Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was undoubtedly the MVP this week for his team passing for over 400 yards and throwing 5 touchdowns. He scored nearly half the Mustang’s total points by himself with (59.64). JuJu Smith-Schuster followed up last week’s double digit performance with a solid (13.70) points, making him the second highest scorer on the team. He finished the day with 7 catches for 67 yards.
The Memphis soul players undoubtedly struggled as a whole on Sunday, but the same could not be said for their quarterbacks who combined for a whopping (64.70) points. Drew Lock threw for 214 yards, 3 touchdowns and one interception. Nick Foles threw for 272 yards, 2 touchdowns and also one interception.
During the post-game press conference, Mustang quarterback Patrick Mahomes talked about the team’s success.
“I’m very proud of the way we performed this week. We were dialed in and stuck to our game plan which let us put up a lot of points on the board. Hopefully we can carry this momentum into next week’s game and start turning our season around.”
The loss brought the Mustangs’ record to 2-6.
The Mustangs are set to take on the Oklahoma City Buffalo (3-5) next week.
