Soul escape Generals in a close game

SAN ANTONIO – Memphis Soul quarterback Kyler Murray had a huge game going for 56.10 points and leading his team to a close win over the San Antonio Generals 164.60 to 161.96. The Generals got out to a big lead over the Soul early on Sunday and but fell stagnant as the Soul fought back for the big road win.

Murray led the way for the Soul on Sunday scoring 56.10 points with 360 passing yards and 67 rushing yards with three passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Christian Kirk added 21.7 points with 37 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and flex QB Nick Foles had 22.44 points with 261 passing yards and two touchdowns. 

San Antonio Generals quarterback Matthew Stafford had a big game in the loss with 33.4 points thanks to 340 passing yards, and a touchdown to add. The General’s top scorer was Davante Adams who had 46 points with 196 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns as well.

At the end of the game, Kyler Murray said “We had a very hard-fought and interesting game. I just told the guys to not give up and keep battling because thats what we do.

Following the game Coach, Phil Radcliff said, “Proud of our team week 7, To see the guys fight and pull through in a very tight and contested game, had sparked a fire inside me and them. On to the Mustangs”

The Memphis Soul look to continue their win streak as they go to the Liberty Bowl for their home matchup this weekend against the Louisville Mustangs. Key matchups for the game are Drew Lock vs Patrick Mahomes. Lock is making his first start this week with Kyler Murray on a bye and Mahomes is looking to get back to scoring more than 20 points a game.
