– From Yahoo! Sports: Jimmy Garoppolo throws for a first down in week 7 loss

Honolulu, HI –  After a strong start to the 2020 season the Volcanos have been riddled with off field distractions, most notably, injuries to impact players.  This showed on the field this week as the Volcanos came out on the losing end once again to the Albuquerque Turkeys by a score of 106.08 – 158.84.

The Volcanos were led again by star wide receiver, Deandre Hopkins, who tallied 10 catches for 103 yards and a score.  Hopkins electric performance landed the Volcanos 24.30 points.  The one other bright spot for the Volcanos was kicker Jason Myers.  Myers banged in two mid 40’s yard field goals to go along with four extra points for a season high 10.00 points.

The Volcanos poor offensive performance was to blame for the loss because their defense had a stellar day.  Two forced fumbles and one block on special teams led to a 9.00 point performance.

On the other side of the field, Joe Burrow, Albuquerque’s rookie quarterback had a career day.  Burrow threw for a career high 406 yards that led to three touchdown passes and 55.64 points for the Turkeys.

Albuquerque’s defense had a field day, intercepting two balls and forcing two fumbles from the Volcanos.  Their strong performance got the Turkeys 24.00 points from the defensive side of the ball.

In the post game press conference, assistant coach Kaleb James has some interesting thoughts on this weeks game.

“I know all of you out there want to blame this loss on the players, but we as a staff will not allow that to happen.  Our lineup is filled with new and young guys that have been put in positions for the first time in their careers due to our list of injures.  It is our job as a coaching staff to prepare these men to succeed and we have failed them.  We’re just now nearing the mid point of the season, so now matter how many of you out there are ready to hit the panic button, we are going to continue to work and grind to get better.  We’re on to Salt Lake City.”

Next week the Volcanos are traveling to face the 1-6 Salt Lake City club.
